The universe used to be full of stars, so you’ve been told. They must have burned out.
Æons takes place during the Degenerate Era, a long age of silence and dying lights. The marvels of the universe, like galaxies and nebulae, have long faded away. Only a few remaining stars, ancient beyond number, wither in the darkness as the inevitable end approaches. You are a creature that has made one of these stars a home, feeding off what scarce light you can. As your home star inevitably burns out, you must go forth into the uncertain depths and find a way to save your brethren from extinction.

Hey, I wanted to let you know that I got stuck at what didn't seem like an ending - it was before getting to the guide star and the storylet started with something like "all black, for a while"

right, Uh, it was very dumb of me, but one of the dots in the background is actually a symbol you have to click on to progress. It caused a bit of confusion already so I will have that fixed!
